What Can I Make from a Dollar Tree Handbag?

While browsing the Dollar Tree the other day I came across these cute pleather? handbags. While I thought they were kinda cute all I was thinking about was getting home and tearing this bag apart to make some fun things. So today I  have the tutorial for the first item I made with this bag.

To start out you need to deconstruct the handbag. I used a seam ripper to rip out all of the seams and here is what I ended up with

A pile of pleather and a zipper and handles.

First thing I wanted to try was making a headband from one of the handles. Only thing extra you will need for this is elastic, sewing machine and glue gun.

Wrap the handle around the head of the person that you are making the headband for. Measure and cut the amount of elastic you will need to add to the headband for it to fit around the head.

Place each end of elastic in each end of the handle

Sew the elastic in place with either a zig zag stitch or a straight stitch, m
making sure to go back and forth for a strong hold.

I decided to add a little bird to my headband so I cut out a template I googled from the pleather.

I used some acrylic paint and painted some flowers and some stitches on my bird. You could just leave it.

I attached the bird to the headband using my hot glue gun. And yes I even got paint on my hands!

Cute don't ya think?

Even if her hair is kinda messy.

Come back and see what else I make from the Dollar Tree Handbag.

Make sure to check out the parties I link to button at top of the page!!!

All your ideas amending handbag pleather to cute items is the dictionary definition of originality and metamorphasis.
