Cute Little Acorns

In case you missed it here is the post I shared on The Country Chic Cottage followers.

With the fall season upon us I decided to share a cute little Felt Acorn with you all today. You can use a machine or you can handstitch them, I'm sure if you wanted you could even just glue them. So let's get started!

Supplies needed:

Scraps of felt
Scraps of fabric
Embroider thread
Poly fill

I made the pattern in several sizes download the pattern Here.

If you are going to add fabric to your acorn then cut out a size smaller pattern of fabric than what you use for the felt. Pin your pattern to your fabric you will need to cut two for each acorn.

Cut out your fabric with pinking shears.

Pin and cut out two "nut" pieces from felt with regular scissors.

Pin your fabric to your felt.

Sew or glue the fabric to the felt.

Layer both pieces of felt with the fabric sides facing outward. and blanket stitch, machine sew or glue
together leaving the top open for stuffing.

Here is what you should have so far.

Cut out two "shell pieces" from felt (I used embossed felt) and stitch, sew or glue edges together leaving the bottom open.

Stuff the "nut" of the acorn.

Add a small amount of stuffing to the "shell".

Place the "shell" piece over the "nut" piece.

Sew or glue in place.

You are done! Make you some in several sizes. These are really quick and fun to make. Even hand stitching them didn't take long and I love the look of the "blanket stitch" around them.

I would love to see if you make any!

Thanks for the tutorial and the pattern for the acorns. I think I will try to get a few cut out tonight for a project to work on over the next few days.
