Easy Braided Jewelry

Oh don't you love it? So easy to make yet so cute. Use whatever fabric you want, this neckace was from an old shirt I had. I just cut three two inch strips of  fabric and braided them together and sewed the end's together. then I just braided three shorter strips of fabric and braided them together wound that braid in a circle sewed on a glass bead and sewed it to the necklace piece then sewed glass beads to it. Don't you just love it?

These bracelet's were so easy too and just darling. I just got three two inch strips of fabric and braided together and then tied it in a knot around a soda can, frayed the ends and that was it.

Kitchen Redo

Well I am finally done painting my kitchen cupboard's and counter's it has been sooo much work and my house is a disaster and need's some major cleaning but it's sooo worth it. What do you think?

Don't look at the ugly light's especially the one without a cover. I am going to replace these. and I don't know why it looks like lines on the back of the counter I guess just the light.

I want to decorate my jar's they are plain I know I painted the cream color though!

I used the same hardware I had I just painted it all to match. I used Rustoleum Hammered spray paint.

My husband bought me a new sink and new faucet so so so much nicer!!!

Any suggestions for a backsplash? I'm just going to paint it though so keep that in mind.
It need's some color and some decoration's but oh I'm loving it so worth all the work !

This was the before yuck! So what do you think?

Being Sneaky

Being a little sneaky!!! Hehehe my husband hate's picture's and so does his oldest son.

They are outside pouring cement for a shed finally!!! I took a break from my kitchen. Almost done sorry just trying to clean up so I can get some good pic's!!! Any way snuck out there and got some picture's of them pourng cement! Shhh don't tell them I posted them on my blog, they would kill me!!!

"What are you doing?" Nothing I say! Aren't they cute?

And isn't he the cutest thing??? He had to get his boot's on like dad and some glove's. I love it!
Well off to finish cleaning so I can show you my awesome kitchen!

Beadboard Look Cupboard Door's

So I wanted to update my kitchen cabinet's without spending a whole lot of money. I love the look of the beadboard door's so I decided to try to make my door's look as if they were made with beadboard.

I marked out every two inches on the middle of each door, Then took a straight board and clamped to the board the marks are where I lined up the board for each cut. I routered line's all the way across the middle piece.

Here it is with all the line's routered. Then I just took a small piece of sand paper and sanded down the line's to get out the excess paint. Then I just roughed up each door with a sander and primed, painted and sealed each door with polyurethane for easy cleaning.

This is the bit I used to router with it's 9906 Dremel I got mine at Ace Hardware.

I set the guard on the highest setting before I routed the door's and tested on a scrap board before I routered into the door's themselves to make sure the depth was right, didn't want to go through my door's then I would have had a really big problem.

I'm getting closer to being done with my makeover and will have pictures up soon. I'm not going to lie it's a lot of work if you want to do this but so worth it!!!

Here is a link to the tutorial I kinda used to do my countertops here.

Am I Doing All I Can?

I love this poem it is such a great reminder of how we should be treating eachother. Am I doing all I can?sometimes our spouses, or our kid's do thing's that just drive us nut's and we forget how fragile life is and how we should be treating eachother. I had to blog this so when I think I am going nut's again when the kid's are just driving me crazy, my husband is saying  I am taking everything my husband say's wrong. I could just read through this poem and remember how lucky I am and to cherish each moment I have. As I was typing this my little girl noticed her fish just died so I'm off to console her and let her know how much I love her!

If tomorrow never comes...

If I knew it would be the last time that I'd see you fall asleep,

I would tuck you in more tightly, and pray the Lord your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time that I'd see you walk out the door,

I would give you a hug and kiss, and call you back for just one more.

If I knew it would be the last time I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,

I would tape each word and action, and play them back throughout my days

If I knew it would be the last time, I would spare an extra minute or two,

To stop and say "I love you," instead of assuming you know I do.

So just in case tomorrow never comes, and today is all I get,

I'd like to say how much I love you, and I hope we never will forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, young or old alike,

And today may be the last chance you get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you're waiting for tomorrow, why not do it today?

For if tomorrow never comes, you'll surely regret the day

That you didn't take that extra time for a smile, a hug, or a kiss,

And you were too busy to grant someone, what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today, and whisper in their ear,

That you love them very much, and you'll always hold them dear.

Take time to say "I'm sorry," "Please forgive me," "thank you" or "it's okay".

And if tomorrow never comes, you'll have no regrets about today.

Sneak Peek

Just a little sneak peak at what I've been up to

So This is what my kitchen has looked like the last few years. I had painted my awful  I think they were particle board cabinets red. And have been wanting to replace the ugly ugly countertops but haven't been able to. Well the other day while cleaning my kitchen I just got sick of it and couldn't stand it any more. I grabbed paint that I had left over from other projects and just started painting away! I am LOVING how it is turning out!

Oh I love it so much! I took and routered lines in the cabinet door's also to look like beadboard. It looks so much better already but I still have most of the kitchen to do.

I love paint it is so amazing how it can transfom things!
What do you think?

I better get busy I have so much more to get done. I don't know how many crafts I will get done this week if any but I will post more pictures of my kitchen as I go. I hope you all are having a great week!

The Apple doesn't fall far from the Tree

I remember when I was little my mom asking me "Heather did you write your name on the stove"?  No, I replied "It was Sara". Sara was my little cousin my mom was babysitting at the time so it sounded good to me. I was in preschool and just learned to write my name. "Why on earth would Sara write your name"? "I don't know"!
I couldn't get a great picture but I was just dusting my coffee table when I noticed it was etched with these letters "Taelyn" Tae is not here right now, she is at her dad's but I can't wait to ask her why she etched her name in my coffee table. Maybe she will say it was Dayton! I couldn't help but laugh when I saw this and it brought back the memory of my mom asking me, "Why did you write your name on the stove'? And all of the etching's that myself and my sister would do in my mom's kitchen chair's. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree does it?

Soda Can Hair Clip

First off if you haven't entered for a chance on my giveaway go here to enter.

I don't want anyone to miss their chance to win this you are all such great follower's!

Now on to another soda can craft. Yes another one sorry but hey they don't cost much if anything!
How cute would this look in your little ones hair or your's? Ready to make one?
Drink your soda and clean out your can and cut off the top and bottom so you have one flat piece of alminum.

1. Trace a circle on you piece of can.
2. Mark your cicle like picture 2 with 6 lines. (I actually just cut didn't draw on mine only this one for the tutorial).
Edited to add:
LOL, sorry I did my tutorial with six petals but the other ones I made had eight either way is still cute just wanted to let you know you can make them either way just add a couple more cut's if you want eight!
3. Cut down each line and mark rounded edges on each petal.(Again just cut mine).
4. Cut the corner's to all be rounded.

Now just spray paint whatever color or color's you like grab some bling for the middle a button, gem or whatever you like and a alligator clip or any other clip and your hot glue gun and a piece of wax paper.

*Edited to add: Sorry another edit some were concerned about the edges being sharp so I messed around some more with them and found that if you painted your flower with modge podge coating the edges really good this will make the edges thicker so you don't have to worry about cuts:)

Clip your waxed paper in your clip as you would your hair this is just to keep the two prongs from being glued together. Then glue your flower on top.

Glue your bling to the middle and your done! So easy and cute and you can make so many out of just one soda can.

Make a bunch of colors. The red one on the right is actually pink and the one in the middle looks crackled kinda cool but I don't know how it did that?

They look so adorable don't they???
Or glue a magnet to the back and you have cute magnet's for your fridge or magnet board!

I'm adding this to the iron crafter's competition too!

Can Planter's

Have you seen the contest Fireflies & Jellybeans is having where crafter's compete using a secret ingriedient? Well this round the secret ingredient is using recycled can's and tin's and I decided to add a few of my recycled can crafts that I have already posted The Soda Can Flower Plant Poke, The Can Organizer and The Soup Can Candlesticks. And now I have made Can Planter's

Here they are without flower's

And with the flower's added. I ran out of flower's so I need to get more for the red one.

If you want to make one you will need :

Empty cans
Jute rope
Strong waterproof glue
Plaster of Paris
Kilz
Spray Paint

So to get started glue together tin cans one on top of the other or I glued four together side by side like I did with the Can Organizer. Then after the glue has dried poke holes in the bottoms of the cans for drainage. Mix up Plaster of Paris according to directions. Then take a big popsicle stick and just frosted the outside of the cans till they are covered, let dry. Now spray with Kilz and let dry. Spray paint in the colors you want. If you want to add the rope to the middle of the four glued together again follow theCan Organizer directions for doing so. Then Just add your plant's and you've got some really cheap really cute planter's!
Make sure you buy the small plant's that come six to a pack or plant your own seeds because the planter's are small!

When Life Gives You Lemon's Giveaway

Well finally a week later I have my giveaway ready. Man does it go with whith the "When Life Gives You Lemon's"  title. I had heck with this. First off I had drawn up the lemonade picture that I embroidered and I couldn't get the color's right I think I made four or five before I finally got it right. Then I had embroidered a towel and poked my finger and got blood all over it so that when went to pot. So here it is finally a week later but it's done and I hope you like it. I designed it all around the little print I drew up. Thank you for all your encouraging comment's that make my day's!!!

Ok so this little apron I made using a tea towel and fabric and some lemon's I added to the top using the wax paper and paint method. The little rosette is on a pin so it can be removed.

This is a little dish cloth I crocheted using a pattern that I found.

This dish towel I just crocheted an edge on and crocheted a flower and sewed on.

And finally last but not least the picture the whole them of this was based on. I just found a picture frame at dollar tree and painted it with yellow's and whites and glued on another rosette. And of course my hand embroided glass of lemonade picture.

This is all handmade remember, it's not perfect but that's what gives it it's character!

Now for the lovely rules to enter:

  1. Leave a comment on this post.
2.  Leave another comment saying your a follower.

3.  Blog about it and leave a comment here letting me know you did.
