I love all the vintage/skeleton key art out there, but I didn't have any keys. I know that you can find them and they aren't too expensive but FREE is even better.
If you would like to make your own Faux Vintage Key Art here is what you will need.....
- Acrylic Paints in Red, Orange, black and gold
- X-Acto Knife
- Thin Cardboard box (cereal, cracker, I used a swiffer refill box).
- Picture frame
Paint the key plate black.
With red and orange on your brush, brush and pounce on your paint randomly continue until you have a rusty looking key plate or the desired look you would like mixing some of the paints together for more rusty colors. When you have the look you like, set aside to dry. When dry refold your folds if necessary.
On the keys on the rounds on the key fold your box down on the top and bottom so the round part stands above the rest of the key.
Mix salt in with your gold paint, not too much you want your paint to still be runny but enough to add some dimension.
Paint your key gold and the pounce some of the black on top.
