Want to Join Me at Spark People?

When I was younger I was sitting in class next to a couple of friends, when my eyes began to roll back into my head. Them just thinking I was being dumb pushed me and told me to "knock it off". Then I fell to the ground and started having a seizure. I woke up in the hospital with my parents and sisters surrounding me. Why am I telling you this? Well for the last twelve years I have been on medication that off and on I have used as an excuse because it can cause weight gain and I'm sick of it. I'm ready to take back the control. I'm ready to be healthy.

The last year watching my dad go downhill has been a living nightmare not knowing what will happen with him and being scared that I will get the call that he is gone is so hard. Not knowing from day to day how he will be. I want to take better care of myself so that my children hopefully won't have to go through this.

Any way I am just telling you in case any of you want to join me. Maybe you can help keep me on track. I'm sure you have all heard of Spark People? Well if you haven't and you are looking to loose weight or just a healthier lifestyle this is a great site to help and best of all it is free!!! I just signed up and am looking for anyone wanting to join me on my healthier lifestyle journey. Check out my page Here and add me as a friend if you join!!! I still need to add a lot to it but I'm just getting started!

Spark People has all kind of things on their site to help you stay on track, nutrition tracker, fitness tracker, weight tracker, recipes and a lot more go check it out!

I Love You Wall Sign

Do you remember this I Love You Printable I shared last week? And the Alcohol Inks I shared yesterday? Well it's time to show what I made with them.

I Love You Wall Sign! I love how it turned out you want to make one?
Here is what you will need.....

  • Foam Board or Cardboard
  • Burlap
  • Twine
  • Glue stick
  • Glue Gun
  • X-Acto Knife
  • Modge Podge
  • 12 x 12 sheet of card stock
  • Paper flowers

I print my picture out to an 8 x 10. Cut your foam board or cardboard to 12" x 12"

Cut your burlap just larger than your board and glue down two of the side on the back. ( I did not do this but if I was to make another I would modge podge the burlap down in the front.)

Glue your corners up and then glue your other two sides down.

This is what the front should look like.

You can see in the picture below I added a piece of twine glued each side to each of the top corners for hanging of the sign I just forgot to get a picture of this. Add glue with a glue stick all over the back of the board.

Add a 12 X 12 piece of card stock to the top of the glue just for finishing look, the glue the side with the burlap down with your glue gun.

Paint modge podge on the back of your picture.

Press in place on top of the burlap covered board pressing firmly, let dry. Paint Modge Podge on top and let dry.

Lightly spay with brown Alcohol Ink and add your paper flowers that are sprayed with your Alcohol Ink. My flowers are Paper Plate Roses. If your are interested I can do a tutorial.

Tie a bow on top and your done!

You're So Very Creative

Welcome to another week of You're so Very Creative!

So I was in need of some alcohol inks this week for a project that I was working on so instead of buying some I experimented making some. Want to make some? Here is what you will need...

  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Kool-aide (off brand works great), or Rit dye
  • Small spray bottles (I got mine at Dollar Tree)
  • Newspaper to protect the area your working

Pour your Kool-Aid, or dye into your bottles on the dye I added about a tablespoon or a little more.

Fill your bottle with rubbing alcohol place the lids back on and shake well

Practice spraying on paper towel or scrap paper.

Make yourself several different colors.

I used mine to color these paper roses. A little teaser of another project to come later this week. I don't know if I would use this on scrap booking, but fun for craft and cards!

Now your turn what have you been working on?

You're So Very Creative

Welcome to Your So Very Creative! This week I actually decided to add to the party myself! I think I could have done this in three posts but oh well.

I wanted a Pom Pom Maker but didn't have one. I was getting sick of trying to get uniform looking pom pom from winding yarn around my fingers so I decided to come up with my own Pom Pom Maker. If you want to make one you can download the template I made  HERE. Now that you have your Pom Pom Maker on to my project....

I used the 3" Pom Pom maker to make my project.

To use your Pom Pom Maker you will Cut a long piece of yarn and start wrapping it through the ring.

If the yarn runs out, continue with a new piece securing the ends while wrapping. You can change colors at any time, like I did above. Continue wrapping your ring until you have a thick covered ring. The thicker the yarn is covered on your ring the fuller your pom pom will be.

With sharp scissors cut the yarn between the two rings, all the way around.

This is what your pom pom should look like so far.

Now take and cut another piece of yarn and place between the two rings wrapping around the pom pom yarn and tie a tight a double knot.

Carefully remove your pom pom from your Pom Pom Maker.

Trim your ends from tying and your done! Or....

Use a new BBQ scrubber and carefully brush over your pom pom while holding your pom pom firmly in your hand. (couldn't take a picture of this step while doing it, sorry.)

Trim your fluffy pom pom into a heart shape.

Grab a headband and cut a piece of felt to shape to go behind your pom pom.

Holding your felt in place on your headband add glue and glue your heart pom pom on top.

Your done, you have a cute Valentine headband!

So now what have you been up to?

Rules for Linking-Up:

1. Add my party button somewhere to your blog so others can join in.

2. Link to your post and not your main blog page.

3. Visit other link-ups leave comments make it fun for everyone...we all love comments!!!!

Have Fun!!!!
